What is PM Surya Ghar Yojana?
Launched by the Government of India in February 2024, PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is the world's largest rooftop solar programme. Its goal is to light up 1 crore homes with rooftop solar, giving each family up to 300 units of free electricity every month and a large subsidy paid directly into their bank account. What is PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana?+
Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a central government scheme launched in February 2024 to install rooftop solar on 1 crore homes. It gives a direct bank subsidy for rooftop solar and up to 300 units of free electricity per month to participating households.
How much subsidy is available under PM Surya Ghar Yojana?+
Central subsidy: ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW, and ₹78,000 for 3 kW or larger systems. In Uttar Pradesh, UPNEDA adds ₹15,000 per kW (max ₹30,000). A 3 kW system in UP can therefore receive up to ₹1,08,000 in total subsidy.
Who is eligible for the scheme?+
Any Indian household with: (1) a valid domestic electricity connection, (2) an own house with suitable roof space, and (3) no previous solar subsidy availed. The applicant's bank account should be linked for direct subsidy transfer.
Do I need to apply separately for the UP state subsidy?+
No. Apply once on the PM Surya Ghar national portal. After the central subsidy is processed, UPNEDA releases the state subsidy automatically to eligible consumers in Uttar Pradesh.
How is the subsidy paid?+
After installation, DISCOM inspection and net meter commissioning, you submit the redemption request with your bank details on the portal. The subsidy is credited directly to your bank account, typically within 30–45 days.
What documents are required?+
Aadhaar card, latest electricity bill (consumer number), bank passbook/cancelled cheque, passport-size photo, and proof of roof ownership. We help you prepare and upload everything.
Can I get a loan for the remaining amount?+
Yes. Collateral-free loans up to ₹2 lakh at concessional interest rates (around 7%) are available for systems up to 3 kW through many banks under the scheme.
PM Surya Ghar application reject kyu ho jata hai?+
Sabse common wajah: Aadhaar, bijli bill aur bank account me naam alag-alag hona, consumer number ki jagah meter number daalna, bijli bill ka bakaya hona, ya sarkari list (ALMM) se bahar ke panel lagwana. Hum application se pehle ye sab check kar lete hain, isliye humare saath rejection bahut kam hota hai.
Net meter kya hota hai aur charge kitna lagta hai?+
Net meter ginta hai ki aapne grid se kitni bijli li aur apni chhat se kitni wapas bheji. Aap sirf antar (difference) ka bill bharte hain. Bijli vibhag net meter ka one-time charge leta hai (kuch hazaar rupaye), jo hum aapke quotation me saaf-saaf batate hain.
Why do PM Surya Ghar applications get rejected?+
The most common reasons: (1) name mismatch between Aadhaar, electricity bill and bank account, (2) entering the meter number instead of the consumer number, (3) outstanding dues on the electricity connection, (4) panels or inverter not on the government-approved (ALMM) list, or (5) system size not matching the sanctioned load. We check all of these before submitting your application, so rejections are rare with us.
What is net metering and are there any charges?+
A net meter records both the electricity you take from the grid and the extra solar power you send back, so you only pay for the difference. Without it, surplus power goes to the grid free. The DISCOM charges a one-time net meter fee (varies by state, typically a few thousand rupees), which we include transparently in your quote.
Can I choose any installer for the subsidy?+
No. The installation must be done by a DISCOM-empanelled vendor using ALMM-listed panels and inverters, otherwise the subsidy is rejected at inspection even if the system works fine. Always confirm empanelment before paying anyone an advance.
